GLORIA DEI

Gloria Dei Hispanic Mission, a Lutheran congregation of Spanish-speaking Christians in Lake Station and Valparaiso, Indiana.

For over twenty-three years, Gloria Dei has been proclaiming the good news of salvation in Christ alone to Spanish-speaking people in Valparaiso, obedient to the command of Jesus to make disciples of all nations by baptizing them and teaching them.

Worship services in Spanish are held in the All Saints Chapel of Immanuel Lutheran on Sundays at 11 am.  From time to time Gloria Dei participates in bilingual worship services with Immanuel and other Lutheran congregations in Northwest Indiana.  Gloria Dei also holds regular worship services at Gloria Dei in Lake Station, IN at 11:00 am on the last Sunday of each month.

Christian education is offered for children on Sunday mornings, and on Friday nights the adults meet for Spanish Bible study and fellowship.

Gloria Dei maintains a visible presence in the community and seeks to promote cross-cultural appreciation and friendship.  The children’s folkloric dance troupe learns traditional dance and takes pride in sharing their Hispanic heritage with the community.  Dressed in brightly colored costumes, the children delight the audience with their performances during the annual Cinco de Mayo dinner.  On Good Friday, Gloria Dei leads the Via Crucis (Way of the Cross), a reenactment of Jesus’ passion that takes participants on a procession through downtown Valparaiso to Valparaiso University’s Chapel of the Resurrection.
